About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to support critical Tech Enablement initiatives across our organization. In this role, you will drive strategic improvements focused on engineering excellence, scalability, and elevating our engineering processes. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will identify opportunities for optimization and implement solutions that enhance our engineering capabilities, enabling Anthropic to remain at the forefront of AI development and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive engineering excellence initiatives, promoting best practices, and ensuring high-quality deliverables across our technical teams.
  • Identify and implement strategies to scale our technical organizations.
  • Elevate our engineering processes by conducting thorough assessments, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with technical leaders to define and execute on program objectives, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
  • Provide clear and transparent reporting on program status, issues, and risks to executives and stakeholders.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have several years of experience in program management, with a focus on engineering or technical projects.
  • Have a proven track record of driving process improvements and organizational change in a technical environment.
  • Have exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to influence without authority, build cross-organizational support, cooperation and action around initiatives and process adoption.
  • Think strategically and execute tactically, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Have a high threshold for navigating ambiguity and are able to balance setting strategic priorities with rapid, high-quality execution.
  • Thrive in unstructured environments, and have a knack for bringing order to chaos.
  • Are passionate about Anthropic’s mission and ensuring AI is developed safely.

Representative Projects:

  • You’ll partner with org leaders, engineering managers and IC’s from all technical pillars at Anthropic.
  • Drive the implementation of standardized documentation processes and templates across technical teams, including decision docs, design reviews, onboarding docs, and runbooks, to ensure consistency and clarity in communication.
  • Spearhead the development and rollout of a centralized task tracking system for all technical teams, evaluating and selecting the most suitable tool (e.g., Asana, Jira) and establishing standardized ways of working (e.g., Agile, Sprints) to streamline project management and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Collaborate with technical leaders to establish team metrics, tracking, and dashboards, including operational metric, external metrics, and team health indicators to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an improved engineering onboarding process, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create comprehensive documentation, training materials, and mentorship programs that enable new hires to quickly integrate into their teams and contribute effectively to Anthropic's mission.

The expected salary range for this position is:

Annual Salary:
$300,000$320,000 USD

Logistics

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

US visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate; operations roles are especially difficult to support. Compensation and Benefits*

Anthropic’s compensation package consists of three elements: salary, equity, and benefits. We are committed to pay fairness and aim for these three elements collectively to be highly competitive with market rates.

Equity - On top of this position's salary (listed above), equity will be a major component of the total compensation. We aim to offer higher-than-average equity compensation for a company of our size, and communicate equity amounts at the time of offer issuance.

Employees based outside of the UK or US will receive a different benefits package. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including where you place on our internal performance ladders, which is based on factors including past work experience, relevant education, and performance on our interviews or in a work trial.
