About Outro Health
Outro Health is the first virtual clinic dedicated to helping people safely taper psychiatric medications, starting with antidepressants. For many of our patients, we are the first to offer a real, safe path to a med-free life.
Our model is grounded in the neurobiology of antidepressant discontinuation and hyperbolic tapering, co-developed by our co-founder Dr. Mark Horowitz, one of the world's leading researchers in psychiatric deprescribing. We use gradual, individualized tapering strategies that reflect how these medications actually interact with the brain—minimizing withdrawal and supporting transitions that last.
We were founded by clinicians, researchers, and people with lived experience of long-term psychiatric medication use. We're building a new standard for responsible psychiatric care, and we're looking for clinicians who believe that standard is long overdue.
About the Role
You'll join the first generation of trained deprescribing clinicians in the US, working within a small team led by field leaders and expert deprescribers.
Your goal is to deliver individualized tapering care to patients who have often spent decades without a real path off their medications, and no one to safely guide them. This is not a high-volume prescribing role—it's a thoughtful, relationship-driven practice built around gradual, patient-centered tapering.
What You'll Do
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized tapering plans grounded in hyperbolic tapering methodology
Manage ongoing patient care, including medication adjustments, symptom monitoring, and withdrawal support
Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure continuity across the patient journey
Who You Are
Active PMHNP certification with licensure in one or more states: California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Virginia
2 years+ of post-certification clinical experience
Tech savvy and confident in a fully remote environment
Willing to challenge and unlearn parts of your clinical training
Want to work directly alongside the clinicians and researchers who are building the first deprescribing guidelines
