Company Overview

Summary

Trek Health is an AI-powered financial intelligence platform that helps healthcare providers negotiate better reimbursement contracts with insurers. It ingests, normalizes, and validates rates from more than 120 commercial payers each quarter, then combines that market data with each provider’s contracts so teams can see where their rates stand and where to negotiate. Finance, revenue cycle, and managed care contracting teams use the platform, while the executives who lead those functions typically buy it. More than 130 provider organizations use Trek today, and customers exceed average market reimbursement rates by 10.4%.

Quick Facts

  • The platform spans 3 products: Price Intelligence for benchmarking rates, Contract Intelligence for consolidating contracts and renewal timelines, and OpenPayer for tracking payer policy changes.
  • OpenPayer launched in February 2026, passed 25,000 monthly users in under 4 months, and acts as a top-of-funnel entry point into the paid platform.
  • Dilpreet Sahota, who previously led strategy and analytics at Health IQ and Big Health, co-founded Trek with Gopal Narayan, who brings more than 30 years of engineering leadership from NetApp, Realtor.com, and LendStreet.
  • Investors include Series A lead Madrona and Accrete Health Partners, the venture arm of Bon Secours Mercy Health, which gives Trek a direct connection to a large provider network.
  • Trek currently works from San Ramon and expects to move its office to San Francisco.

Role Overview

Summary

The Director of Product is a hands-on player-coach who will own Trek’s 0-to-6-month roadmap, unify its enterprise platform, build a path from OpenPayer into enterprise revenue, and develop two junior product managers. Trek’s CEO has served as the de facto product leader and will continue to own the 6-to-12-month horizon, while this person turns that direction into shipped product and a reliable operating cadence. Most of the role stays close to the work through specifications, discovery calls, and daily partnership with engineering, with the remaining time focused on coaching two product managers who moved into product from solutions engineering. Success in year one means one coherent enterprise product, a working free-to-paid motion, and a team that operates with stronger discovery, prioritization, and quality assurance.

Scope, Impact, and Responsibilities

  • Own the 0 to 6 month roadmap and the tradeoffs inside it, partnering with the CEO on where the product goes after that.
  • Ship the merge of Trek's two enterprise offerings, the external market rate data product and the agentic system that works against a customer's internal data, as the product manager on the work rather than the reviewer of it.
  • Build the free-to-paid bridge out of OpenPayer, which means defining activation, deciding what qualifies as a product qualified lead, instrumenting the funnel, and designing the handoff into sales.
  • Coach the existing engineering team day to day, raising the bar on discovery, written specs, and prioritization, and give the CEO an honest read on how the team should be structured as it grows.
  • Rebuild the operating cadence of the function: roadmap planning, prioritization, discovery, sprint rhythm, and the QA process, which leadership has flagged as the weakest link.
  • Partner with an engineering organization that values sequenced, incremental change, breaking end states into stages rather than pushing for a single rewrite.
  • Represent product in the field, joining prospect and customer conversations, supporting GTM enablement, and turning enterprise upsell requests into a prioritized set of commitments.

Representative Projects

  • Merge the market rate data product and the internal-data agentic system into one platform with a single navigation and a single mental model for the user, which is largely integration work rather than net new surface area.
  • Instrument the OpenPayer funnel and define the product qualified lead. The free product grew roughly 3x month over month in users and drives 0% of sales volume today, while 85-90% of pipeline comes from outbound BDRs. The goal is to flip that toward 50-70% inbound.
  • Rebuild the QA process and define what "ready to ship" means for a data product where a wrong rate is a credibility problem with a hospital CFO.
  • Create the prioritization method for enterprise expansion. A typical example is a customer paying $30K to $50K a year who would pay significantly more with seven specific requirements met, and someone has to decide which of the seven get built.
  • Scope Trek's first integrations into customer systems including electronic health records and claims feeds, and define how product managers work alongside solutions engineers in the field.

Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of product management experience, with recent time as a senior, lead, or principal PM, or as a player-coach of a small PM team. You should want to stay hands-on while extending into leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience shipping data-intensive or workflow products that customers rely on for operational, financial, or strategic decisions. Comfort with large-scale data matters more than healthcare background.
  • Exposure to both product-led growth and enterprise sales motions, and ideally the bridge between them. Having worked on a freemium funnel that fed an enterprise pipeline is a strong signal.
  • Experience at a company under roughly 100 people, where you owned outcomes without a support structure around you. Pure big-company backgrounds are a hard fit here.
  • Enough technical fluency to engage credibly with engineers, paired with a genuine willingness to learn engineering constraints and sequence change incrementally.
  • A working, current approach to using AI in the product process. Trek weighs AI-native judgment more heavily than years of traditional PM tenure.
  • Scrappy and flexible on scope, including leaning into go-to-market enablement and speaking with prospects and customers when that is what the business needs.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, or willing to relocate, with 2-3 days per week in office.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in a product leadership or similar player-coach seat, carrying your own area while developing other product managers (directly or indirectly).
  • Background in healthcare, healthcare data, pricing, contracts, or an adjacent regulated B2B software category.
  • Experience with consumption based or usage based pricing models.
  • Exposure to enterprise data integration work, such as connecting to customer systems like electronic health records or claims feeds.
  • Experience developing product managers who came from adjacent functions such as solutions engineering, support, or analytics.
